Mission Statement
of
The Delray Beach Historical Society
|
The Tarrimore House and The Colony Hotel
From the beginning, the mission of the Historical Society has been to preserve the City's archives and historic sites, to educate the community about Delray's heritage and to perpetuate public interest in the historic past of this area. The early meetings of the Historical Society were held at Ethel Williams' home to organize and catalog memorabilia, which was the beginning of our archives. Growth of the community, awareness of our local heritage and a group of motivated volunteers were the key elements to the continued development of the Historical Society. Over the past decade the Historical Society has helped contribute to the rebirth of Delray Beach, a seaside village with an enormous sense of community and a commitment to build its future from the strength of the past. Today the Historical Society is responsible for the operation of three sites in the City of Delray Beach. |
